Unhappy 04 wrx serious issues

I just got this wrx and ever since i picked it up its had some problems. Its lacking MAJOR power, the stock boost guage is reading .05 for the peak boost, it only pulls from 5k to 6k, it sounds bogged and hesitates from 3k and up, its running very rich ( i can smell the gas) and its making a noise that sounds like flapping from the engine (does NOT sound healthy). I can hear the turbo spooling but it doesnt really pull at all.

The guy i picked it up from said the car had a bad front o2 sensor, and that it jus needed to be tuned. It had a check engine light on so i had the codes read twice by two different scanners, the first one read bad knock sensor and the other read mass air. The only code the second one picked up that the first one didnt was exhaust gas temp.

Also he said the car has sti injectors. He has a metal craigslist intake pipe and a generic cone filter for the intake and what looks and sounds like an ebay BOV -__- It also has full exhaust from the up pipe back (which is nice)

I have been reading my ass off trying to figure out where to start with this... i did just change the knock sensor but it doesnt seem to have helped. Im not knew to modding cars or subarus either. Just wondering if anyone could help me out with where to start with this thing. Any advice would be greatly appriciated! Thank you.

.05? What measurement PSI or BAR? You could start with a boost leak test and work your way from there.

How many miles on the car? The guy has never had it tuned? No COBB AP, nada?

Search on here and NASIOC. You could also a fog/smoke test to see if you have any leaks.

Try these:

These are links from Google as I cannot get on a couple of them to verify.

Ah okay, so about 7 psi. So, what you are getting is most likely WG pressure. Can you tell if there is an aftermarket BCS? Or stock? I would def. check into testing for boost leaks and look into the spark plugs (if they have not been changed recently) just in case. You can also check all the vac lines visually just to make sure there no cracks/splits.

What I did (most likely not recommended) was get a piece of extra hose and loop from the turbo port to the WG. This will cause it to overboost, but I was having similar issues and thought maybe my WG was stuck and not operating properly. If you loop it, and can boost past where you are now, then you know you most likely have a leak somewhere and your turbo/WG are okay.

If you have a pancake compressor and a boost leak tester, you can also test for leaks that way as well.
