02 wrx stuck in 3rd

ok i was cruzin like 35mph up to a red light ,pushed the clutch in and rolled over the railroad tracks ,and made a right hand turn while still rolling and tried to downshift into 2nd and the shift wouldnt move at all . what the hell could be wrong with it ,and i checked the linkages and everything and no bolts are missing oh the tracks are brand new so it was vertually no bump. im pretty familiar with the outside of the tranny 3 clutches later. pissed

Did it ever pop out of that gear?

Same thing happened to me but i wasnt goin over any bumps or anything. i was at a redlight, started normal didnt try to launch or anything and when i tried to shift into 2nd, no dice. i pulled the tranny and split the case and found my problem- my differential had came apart and metal chunks were jammed in the corner of the case, blocking 2nd gear.

oh crap well hmm.... so how diffucult is it to split the case open, well i say this because i cant afford to take it to a shop and get charged like 400 bucks to split it open+parts+labor.

anyone know where i can pick up a new shift fork besides the dealer

yea hey everyone nevermind i got it. it was a broken shift fork, the tip of the fork where that plastic/teflon is snapped off and it was jamming all the forks together. and all of my gears and syncros are so new looking and pretty. all is good now i just need to find a shift fork
