My WRX has been running like a champ and never had a problem starting. It cranked right up when I left for work but when I came out to go home it wouldn't even crank. All electrical accessories work but when the key is turned there is no click from the starter, no dimming of gauge lights...nothing.
A coworker helped me push-start it to get it home and it ran just fine. Once I turned it off and tried to start it again I got the same thing as before. I tried jumping it from my wife's car thinking it might be the battery but no dice. I smacked the starter a few times while she turned the key and still nothing. I've checked all relevant fuses.
I hear no electrical or mechanical click from the starter when the key is turned. If I turn my HIDs on they don't dim when I try to start it the way I would expect them to if the battery was on the fritz.
There hasn't been any rain so I don't believe weather is a factor.
You need three things to run, spark, fuel and air. If you're not hearing your starter, maybe it needs replaced? Check the fuse/relay for it, you should be able to hear and feel (if you put your finger on top of it) the relay clicking.
