haha, yeah I figured it would take some weight reduction for it. That's how i was able to drop over half a second off my time on my teg. Stripped everything out and learned how to shift better than an automatic
what realistically should a stock wrx with a average to good driver get in a 1/4 mile. I have put in a HKS Hi-power catback exhaust and an HKS Hi-flow intake with a Sun High voltage system and an HKS SQV blow off valve. Should my car run anyfaster. I have not been able to go to a track yet. Any ideas?
i was coming back from the sema show in N.J. on the express way and an evo was behind me, i know he had at least an exhaust on it but i was in 3rd gear punched it threw the rest of the gears up to a 130 mph he didn't make any attempt to pass me but iknew he easily could have i think he was toying with me, it was like a walk in the park for that car
all you guys talking about the evo like its competition for the wrx...its competition for the sti..u guys are talking like the wrx has a chance against the evo. now im a fan of subaru but i know there is no way in hell that a wrx could take an evo. and by the way, all this talk about how all those guys with evo and them breaking down their cars, thats because they abused them, it has nothing to do with the quality of how it was made. Somebody could abuse the Sti before its broken in and the same thing would happen. dont get me wrong, i like the sti better. Thank You.
Actually from what I have read, the Evo 8 uses a form of the basic Lancer clutch which is only designed to hold around 200hp. That is why they are having so many problems with them. I mean, I know a guy with the Evo that has blown his clutch, tranny, and had to replace his transfer case at 10k miles on the car. I don't care how much they abuse it, a car designed for what the Evo is supposed to do should be able to hold up better than that. You don't hear anything about STis having problems either, and I would bet money that the STi drivers do the same thing to the car that Evo drivers do. Most of them actually do try to take care of the car just like the rest of us.

Well actually the evo 8 trany is the same as the evo 6 tranny and the TME 6.5 . I have not had any problems with mine . I am pushing around 410crank hp right now or 340 whp. I have 7k on the odometer. My freind has an evo with 56k miles yes 56k miles and he drive it pretty hard, and he has only had 2 problems which were wear items. One was the brake rotors and pad and the other was a tires. I also have another freind that has a Blue STI , he has broken 4 gear 2 times so far. Had syncros replaced in 2,3,4,and 5th gear. But he beats the crap out of his car. As far as the transfer cases go, it is pretty much a select few that have these problems and it has mainly to do with the way the gears where shimmed in the transfer case. Ohya one other thing is that the stock clutch cannot even handle the amount of stock hp , it just slips alot. Only have one person to blame for this and that is exedy, they designed it to fail so you can buy one of there better designed clutch.
Ya the evo8gsr in Japan and everywhere else in the world beside the u.s. got one with all those features. I am unsure but I do not think that the evo8 rs has the 6 speed or ayc and acd. Acd and dccd differ though.
Isnt the ACD in the Evo just like a totally computer controlled version of the DCCD in the STi? By that I mean, it does basically the same thing, just without the option of it being controlled manually by the driver?
ok well here I go with my mitsu rant again......Evos are still mitsubishis and not only that they are new mitusbishi which makes it even worse...and just so you know 6 cyliner eclipses are the slowest things in the world...I have beat one in my parents mini-van..Im not lying
I looked over at him not meaning anything and he revved his engine then took off so I hit the gas and caught him and pulled away and I could still hear his engine revving up high....

The STi is competition for V8's, and by this I mean the U.S. STi. I tend to think of the Evo as WRX competition, seeing as they both have 2.0L engines. Now if we were to compare a JDM STi with the Evo then the playing field's been leveled considerably. The '04 JDM STi is not the same monster we have in the states...something to do with laws against cars with more than 300hp stock. That's why you see cars like the Evo pushing 287hp, close to 300 but never at or beyond 300. The Evo VIII has a bigger turbo, FMIC and better tires than the WRX. You could upgrade just those parts on your WRX and be as fast or faster than the Evo for about the same price. Of course you wouldn't have that sweet carbon fiber wing, that thing alone adds like 20hp or so I'm told.
Uhhh thats not true. You need to do quite a bit of modding to keep up w/ the stock EVO. The EVO is in between the WRX and STi. And already there are ALOT more high HP EVOs than STis. A modded EVO is no competition for a modded WRX IMO. But thats just my two pennies.

i would like to see you run half of the mitsus around here, on other boards as well. they are fast (albeit they break alot when you make alot of power, but so do subies, not that i know about that.. )
the EVO isnt much to be messed with, with simple mods, they are very fast. of course it will eat a WRX (even an STi) up in the handling dept, and they are a close contender in the quarter.
yes, Mitsu does have some crapcans (the V6 eclipse you were referring to had the same engine as the minivan you were driving more then likely) and alot of other cars they make too, but all cars are crap. period.
hell...i know of a Hyundai that will beat every car on this board. morale of the story is dont knock something if you dont know for sure that its what it is. you may be surprised sometimes.
case in point: this year at the GS nationals. a metro pulls to the line. people laugh.
