the one time I got to ride in one I wasn't that impressed, it just reminded me of a 4 door eclipse

I just never like the looks of Galants. The VR-4 Galant just never seemed that impressive to me. It seemed like a stretch at making a galant "sporty".

It's a very impressive car, it's got the same drivetrain as the Evo I-III and the Eclipse GSX/Talon TSi/Laser AWD

Well that's sorta impressive. But, I've heard EVO heads saying that anything after the EVO 3 was good. So, it leads me to believe the 1-3 EVOs weren't so great. Unless they're just basing that off of looks.

Idk what they're bitching about then. Probably looks...this is why you can't believe everything you hear at times.

Eclipse GSX/Talon TSi/Laser AWD did they have a detuned engine or smaller turbo? Because I remember my one friend upgraded his GSI to a 16G and EVOs come with a 16G. He had to upgrade the manifold for it to fit.

Correction: It was a TD04. and most all dsm guys do a TD05 swap for some good quick HP. It was just a tad larger than the Starions/Conquest'.

^ Actually the TD04-13G (slightly smaller than the WRX TD04HL-13T) only came on the 1st gen automatic FWD cars, the manual/AWD cars (and Galant VR-4) were equipped with a TD05-14B (basically a 15G) and all 2nd gens had the T25, and the 3000GT VR-4 / Stealth RT-TT were equipped with a TD04-9B

I was seriously looking into a GSX/VR4 instead of my 03 WRX for a DD way back in the day

Fun Fact: if you put stock WRX turbos on a 3000GT VR-4 you'll be in the 450-475awhp range close to 500 ported vs. the stock 9B's which will max out at about 330awhp!

also there is a company called Dynamic Racing that has TD04 Framed turbos for the 3S cars that will put out close to 800awhp

The transmission will just sh!t the bed. That's all. !Cry!

I really want a 3000GT but I'm afraid that the maintence costs will be sorta high and the pain of working around the side sitting V6 will be a huge pain. 5 speeds being more reliable than 6 speed, which are known for weak synchros.

Matt: you never answered my PM.
