Question Race seat install questions

I will be installing a race seat very soon (momo or sparco , not sure yet) What do I need to know about dealing with the sensors and such for this project ? Thanks for sharing your knowledge

The only thing I can think of is that you might get an air bag light to come on from having it disconnected

You can resistor the air bag light, just make sure that the battery is disconnected and the charge is gone from the car so the airbag doesn't shoot off when you disconnect the sensor. Which seats you looking into? I am interested in a few myself, namely Corbeau FX1 Pro.

"Corbeau FX1 Pro" I'm not a big fan of fixed backs but it's a nice seat none the less..

As for the sensors and all. I agree.. Kill the juice for safety and unplug the side airbag.. Measure the Ohms and resistor the plug to kill the light..

Don't forget about sliders.. Most require a custom set to my knowledge...

I'm either going with a sparco pro 2000, or sparco TEC. The TEC looks like it would be more comfortable and since I often drive 200-500 miles to tracks that's important. I was looking at the Momo's but a couple of racers I asked advice, steered me away from them. I will definitely be in a fixed back seat to meet race tech. I've got a harness bar on the way and a 3" FIA harness sitting on my kitchen table. Almost time to hit the track !! Thanks for the sensor wisdom

The Pro 2000 is a great seat. It sits a little low for me, but I still love it. Wish I could afford it though...

I scored a pro 2000 from e-bay for $400 (with shipping) yesterday. Checkpoint Racing is sending me the brackets. I already have a 6 point FIA harness from those guys, and a harness bar on the way. I'm using the side mount brackets so I can get the height right, probably not using the slider. I'll decide that when everything shows up. Time to get strapped in Checkpoint has the pro 200 new for $620 They're at www.cp-racing.com

Plus you gotta buy the bracket too. The FX1 Pro is like $250 new and the bracket is only like $70.

Yep, got the side mount brackets for $70 shipping included. Should see the seat on Mon. I did consider the Corbeau, but it doesn't have the important FIA homolagation for racing. I think I'll be happy with the pro 2000

I have been gathering info on this install and will do it, along with the harness bar and a 6 point FIA harness. I'll post a how-to if I'm successfull doing it myself. If not, there's a shop in ABQ that prepares race Miatas that can help me. I should see the Sparco and the bar tomorrow !!

sounds sweet. race seats would be tight but i dont track my car mostly because im 17 and all the tracks require you to be 18 FTL. i wanna see some pictures for sure. after college i want to be able to have my 02 as a dedicated track car then have a calmer family friendly car as a daily driver
