hmm, ok. just FYI the Skip Barber Racing School instructors at Seca are independent contracts so you might be able to save yourself some organization time and higher them out. being that you will have the track rented already, so they wont be working.

maybe ill see you guys at Seca.

You guys are so lucky you able to drive that track if desired and willing to spend a few hundred. It's a bit too far from me. Nugs, I was checking for Skip Barber to come to Limerock here in CT this summer and I didn't see it on the schedule, are they not coming here this year? One of my best friends has done the one day and then the next year the 2 or 3 day (can't remember) but it was instruction with the open wheel cars. I'd love to at least try the one day.

yeah there is a 1 day intro to racing class thats half in the Neons on an autocross and then the second half in the open wheel formula dodge school cars (open wheel) which is just lead-follow around the track behind and instructor in a neon. and then there is the 3 day racing school which is 3 days in the school cars. the 3 day is a good class, you learn a lot about vehicle dynamics. but if you want my honest opinion, save some money and do one of the driving schools. yeah its nice to say you got to drive an open wheel "race car" around a race track, but there is a lot more applicable stuff you can take away from the driving school. unless of course you are actively pursuing a career in race car driving, then the 3 day is the shit.

although Seca is a GREAT track, probably my second favorite American track, it does loose some of its allure after you got paid to drive around it. after a 100 or so laps its just work again lol.

as far as lime rock goes, they should be there. it might not be on the calender yet because thy don't have enough sign-ups. you should give them a call.

I'm not asking to drive Seca 100+ times just a few laps! Yeah I was planning on the one day as I will not be pursuing a career in racing, not to mention it's expensive. My friend told me how nasty the "main" instructor was basically throwing a VW bus around the track (just to show the track to everyone b4 they started driving) with one hand and gesturing with the other while discussing the in's and out's of Limerock. I LOL'd when he told me how the guy is pushing the bus well beyond the limit of the tires, not drifting, just throwing the bus around. And of course all the other instructos passing the open wheel cars (when he did the 3 day) in the neon....haha. Thanks I will give them a call shortly to see whats up.

yeah, the van-arounds are good time. the best thing to do if a neon passes you while doing a van around is casually say "i got $20 on the neon".

I was pit lane lead. i was on the mechanic side of it but i oversaw all track related school activities. the level of shenanigans and jackass'ery experienced on a daily basis are a whole other level. certainly miss the fun work environment. i dont miss the pay, though. thats for sure.

absolutely. nothing like being able to say, "one of the students thinks they saw something on the track at the exit of 4, better take a look" and jump in a neon and do a lap.
