Just tuned my 09 sedan wrx with turbo back exhaust standard intake. Prior to it sounded awesome smooth nice note now. Smells petrol rougher idle flappy exhaust note. Backdraft sound just not happy can anyone help. Has the tuner only worried about mid range and who cares about low range thanks heaps
Sounds to me like you've got an exhaust leak, Double check that you didn't double up on exhaust gaskets or miss one.
I cant think of any reason it would run rough at idle if all you replaced was the exhaust, Maybe you knocked off a vacuum line when you installed the exhaust?
Prior to tune eg just had exhaust done sounded perfect and ran perfect obviously didnt thrash till tune. Standard air intake. so i dont think exhaust cause it was spot on prior to tune eg 4 days ago. When i say rough i mean rougher then it was eg more frequent splutter instead of never missing a beat. Only under lower revs all the occur it goes great when putting foot down and like i said it just smells more then before
DO you have a monitoring tool? it might be tuned rich ( thus the smell of fuel ) Usually I look for exhaust leaks when people complain about odd smells but if your sure the exhaust is all packed in tight then we can definitly look ata log for you.
Whatever software/hardware you are using to tune please take a quick log, maybe a minute of regular driving and one 3rd gear pull so we can see whats going on in there.
Ill get onto the tuner i was thinking that he kept it a bit richer just to be safer. Also if so a process west intake eas fitted would this free up the low end stuff and lean it out a bit i know hard to tell what it would do or does it just stuff up the ratios altogether. Do not want to tune again
Adding an intake that does not match a tune to try to make the system leaner is usually a bad idea. Why not try an E-tune like torqued? They start at about $90 and Eric will go over the logs back and forth with you till your both happy.
Just my.02c I would work on the tun rather than try to compensate with more parts.
