You do have an 09.
The AP is where your problem is.
I'd think it would be better to have a $600 problem over a $20000 problem any day.

I agree, honestly you need to send the AP back and have them mail you back the correct one!

I am waiting to hear back from the COBB tuning department. I sent them my VIN and a few pics of what they asked for earlier today. They responded right away with a question,

Do I have a adjustable waste gate arm and do I have a manual or auto tranny.

I clarified that i do have a 5 sp. But the Waste gate question i have no clue about that. So i am waiting to hear what they have to say now. But on the COBB Website, The 2008 AP covers all the way to 2013. So your saying that the AP that I have is somehow flawed from the place where it was made. I just wanna make sure I understand what your saying thats all. I wanna install this AP and see what the dynometer says it has for HP just for sh#ts and giggles. I am sure it wont be dead accurate. But if it shows anything above 225 HP then I know there is more to this story. The only other thing thing I could do according to the suburu parts manager is to check the motor serial number, then phone suburu head office and see if they can tell me what motor is in my car.
The suburu parts guy did say that according to the VIN number my turbo part should be a certain part number, And I checked it and it was the same. He clarified that yes it is a 2009, Made sept 2008. Warranty started dec 2008. it is a 2.5 l motor. The turbo matched the same part number. I suppose tomorrow I will see if I can find the Serial number on the motor. Anyone know where that might be located.
Man oh man this is getting very frustrating. Something simple has now opened a can of worms.

COBB would be pissing me off. Have a local Suby buddy with a 2009-2013 install it, see what the AP does.

is there a difference between a 2008 and a 2009 AP. Because on my invoice receipt sheet for the AP it says 2008 wrx
But on the COBB website it says that the 2008 covers all 2008 all the up 2013

cobb tuning just asked me if my turbo has a adjustable waste gate. But the waste gate is underneath the turbo the way its mounted.

i just had a good look. And there is no adjustable part on the waste gate that I can see. So now what does that mean. I am assuming because mine is not adjustable that i have the lower end of the two turbos.
I just my answer to COBB via email. I am sure I wont get a answer till tomorrow though.

The motor isn't changed between 2008 and 2009. Its basically just a turbo difference with different tune from the factory.

@turmic
I am sure you were a suburu Noob like I am at some point in your life correct. If I am beating a dead horse its only because I cant get a straight answer. i took the car to a suburu dealership today. And they couldnt even tell me what model of wrx i own. Anyways...I thank all who helped with there tips and advice. Yes it is clear now, All i need to do is Identify which turbo is on my car and I should be good to go.

You've been given all the answers and yet you're not piecing the puzzle together...just saying man. Your turbo will say on the front of the cold side if its a IHI VF and if you can find out if its a VF52 from comparing it to the picture I posted back on the first page. Well, then maybe you'd stop panicking.
