What is your EGT temps?

Just curious as to what EGT temps you guys are seeing while you are
1) at idle (mines around 850 degrees)

2) at highway crusing speed, say 75 mph in 5th gear (mines around 1400)

3) WOT in 5th, say 4000 rpms and above (mine very quickly goes from the 1400 listed above to 1600) I never let it get that high, but know it would, and maybe pass it, if i continued at WOT. Is this cause for concern? Maybe running to lean or something?

Just wanted to compare my EGT temps with others. Thanks

1600 is about right for wide open throttle as you described it

Ok, well, for some reason i have it in my head that if EGT gets to 1650 or above then damage can result to the engine. I guess im just confused because if that's true then I couldn't run my car at WOT (in 5th) for more than probably 15 seconds. Not that i really ever need to but just seems like the car should be able to run longer than that at WOT.

I wouldn't base everything off just EGT.Some people see 1700.Also,how accurate is your gauge?Impossible to answer.

True, in fact the reason im asking is partially to determine if my gauge is accurate. I had my manifolds ported, polished and coated. I thought that would lower the EGT i was seeing before. However, it didn't change at all. Maybe due to the coating?

Im currently communicating with autometer's tech support to determine what kind of calibration if any may be needed with their gauge (Sportcomp II mechanical pyrometer).

Just wanted to make sure I wont damage/fry anything if my EGT reads 1600 while driving? I currently dont have a AFR gauge to go by.

Longshot; are those temps you stated while at idle? or while actually driving?

Thanks
