boost level

The topic of stock boost level is covered thoroughly on many ethusiast sites, but for the record: about 13 psi.

Safe max boost level with 91 octane fuel is probably 16-17.

Get a boost gage as your first mod, and DO NOT try to adjust boost without one, unless you have a spare motor handy.

You can buy a turbo gage at your friendly auto parts store, with the plumbing bits you will need, for about $50. There is an electrical outlet behind the radio to power the Subaru dealer installed gage package (oil temp, pres, boost) You can take your power from there most easily.

Good luck/

if you set your boost at 17 and your boost controler has a bad flash it will hit 19psi and trip the defenser, car will kill for a second or buck and the cel will be on instantly

boost control flash?

Should we assume that you are referring to an electronic boost controller? My boost controller is mechanical - part of the turbo XS unichip set up. Is it suceptible to flash? (I'm guessing not).
