Temp Gauge problem?

The temperature gauge on my dash always sits just above the second line in my 04 WRX wagon. I don't know if this is normal or not, I checked the fluids, everything is topped off. So I guess I am just wondering if this is about right, or if it should be lower. Any other vehicle I've owned, the temp gauge has been at half.

Also, unrelated, but does anyone know why a key wouldn't work on the rear hatch lock? The hatch opens fine, but I have to unlock it via remote...

You might have a rear hatch that did not originally come on the car. In other words, the original may have been replaced due to __________. (your guess would be as good as mine)

Wish I could locate a picture. It's a little metal latch that has 2 positions. Look at your latching mechanism and you will see it. I believe it prevents the hatch from opening from inside the car or from a remote. MAYBE it's called a child safety latch. You will see it.

Are you talking about the latch that is right on the other side of the lock? Or the latch where the hatchback is unhitched when opened?
