Running Economy with Stage 2 ?

I have never tried it before, but I was wondering if it would do harm to run a Stage 2 car with Turbo back, uppipe on economy mode. I drive to work in a 7 mile constant slow down speed up, and no more than 50 mph M-F.

[QUOTE=mosc;188871]economy mode?[/QUThe ap comes w/ several modes to include the economy mode, stock mode, valet mode and ani-theft..after reviewing cobbs map notes it says to use economy mode w/ a Stock car w/ stock intake. I dont think stage 2 w/ economy mode would work, If I were you I would CALL COBB and find out..Z

PER COBB---"Economy Mode Economy mode requiring minimum 91 octane fuel. Low boost and increased ignition timing for optimal fuel savings. Not a performance map and not recommended for aggressive driving."

"Hardware Requirements: Otherwise stock vehicle with a STOCK INTAKE
SYSTEM ONLY"

"CAUTION!!! DO NOT RUN ANY Stage1 MAPS WITH ANY TYPE OF HIGHER FLOWING DOWNPIPE OR
TURBO-BACK EXHAUST ON YOUR 2006 WRX. THE Stage1 MAPPING HAS VERY HIGH WASTEGATE DUTY
CYCLES SETTINGS TO TRY AND BRING BOOST ON AT LOWER RPMS. THESE SETTINGS WILL INDUCE
SEVERE BOOST SPIKING AND WILL OVERSHOOT THE TARGETS CAUSING BOOST SEARCHING. THESE
SPIKES CAN CAUSE ENGINE DAMAGE. IF YOU HAVE A HIGHER FLOWING DOWNPIPE OR TURBO-BACK
EXHAUST SYSTEM ON YOUR 2006 WRX, PLEASE USE THE APPROPRIATE Stage2 MAPS"

I dunno, i would say economy mode would be a stage one map.....but then again u have an04...

first off, he said nothing about cobb

Cobb's economy map is really a crock. It basically just prevents you from using your gas petal. Maybe it helps if you have self control issues but if you drive economically, the map won't do anything different than any other map.

Sorry, but I didn't explain very well, it is Stage 2 with Cobb AP. It's just so hard to stay out of the turbo, especially with an uppipe.

well, maybe it'll help you then. Self control's one of my problems too. Yes, the map will work for a Stage 2 WRX as long as you haven't mucked with your intake I believe... but call em anyway. That's good advice

i run stage 2 ap on my 02 wrx. def right about the self control thing. i think i hit max boost at like 7psi running the econ map. it takes care of the self control thing but will really piss you off trying to beat some traffic to merge on a highway or something. Especially if you drive running stage 2 most of the time. in my opinion if you want great fuel mileage buy a civic or something for running around and drive your suby the way its designed to be driven.

Hmmm I was always wondering about this... I might have to call Cobb and check since I have a 07 WRX.

The economy mode works on any stage..... Long trips is what I recommend when using it.

Meh, mosc is right learn self control when driving and on long trips use your cruise control more than you foot control. The Cobb Econo mode is crap, I managed better mpg on a stg.2 car than I did using the econo map.

Im right there with Mosc and psinuse. Although Im only stage 1, I got better gas mileage on the stage 1 over economy and had power there if I happened to need it.

I've been getting better mileage with my stage 2 than I did stock. I'm planning on running the economy map with my next tank, do most people really get worse mileage with it?

It seems to be the general consensus. Im getting good mileage with my 20G even. Im averaging about 22MPG, would be more if I didnt drive on post with all the stop and go as much I figure.

The map notes call for stock injectors with the Economy/Valet/Etc. modes. So as long as you have stock injectors you should be fine.
