noobie question :) guru's eyes only

1st post so dont flame too hard.

I'm like 2 clicks away from buying the cable and getting prepared to try my first flash on a stock 06 wrx( k&n panel filter doesnt count in my book). The problem is I'm in a full arm cast on my left arm and I don't think I will be able to install a boost gauge with 1 hand. i originally wanted to have this in before tunning so that I can monitor boost while driving.

It seems like I should be pretty safe as long as I do some runs and log it with my laptop to check out the levels. I'm still in learning mode and trying to get all the info I can from stickies.

So what do you tuning guru's think? order the parts and go to town or wait about 2 months to install the boost gauge first.

Thanks!

chris

As long as you can monitor the car including boost (which you can with a tactrix cable and the proper software) you won't need to install the boost gauge yet.

Garage
if you're just doing a stage 1 or stage 2 flash, I don't think a boost gauge is really required.

Thanks guys. I will do some more reading and put in an order for the tactrix cable.

Hopefully If I can build a computer I can figure out how to not blow my ecu up.

+1 Sometimes the answer is just so simple. The laptop is your boost gauge for now.Do some logging at WOT in 3rd through out the week and if all is good just get the boost gauge when you can.You will see higher boost in 4th and 5th gear though. It's normal but just be aware of this when it's really cold out.
