Read the opensource thread. If you are up to it, a tune can be had for a total out of pocket of about $225, and you'll have the ability to tune for mods later.

KK correct me if im wrong. Can you not buy a tactrix cable, get a tune. save the tune config and switch between stock and tuned with romraider?

From my reading thats the basics of how it works. Kind of like the AP, but the AP automatically saves it were as the OS you have to actually save it yourself.

What exactly are you asking? If the AP does the exact same things as romraider? Or does the AP save the map like romraider? Sorry, just want to give you the correct info and not mislead you.

With OS you can save a map and go to stock anytime yes, but more importantly it won't lock (or marry) the ecu, so anyone can tune it later as well. The AP seems to be a great product for off the shelf tunes and for use by a pro tuner in your area. I have no pro tuner near me, so I chose to go OS so I can continue to tweak it with my laptop and save some cash.

Brad just hit the nail on the head with that bit of info about OS. That is probably (at least to me) the best thing about OS. I used to not have to worry about a tuner, but then again, not looking to add any more power to my car any time soon.

It was nice that I didn't have a tune married to my car when I traded in my 08, I put it back to stock and flashed a mild stage 1 to it. Whoever bought the car got the best running "stock" 08 on the lot. LOL

FYI, when you download the map from the car to Ecuflash, you have to tell it NOT to save a copy when you close the program kinda like microsoft word. So if you flash a new map and never save the original...it's kinda the user's fault. LOL

Another thing to consider is that the AP acts as a multi gauge too I am told, and you have to carry a laptop to get that with OS, or run an ipod touch with kiwi wireless like I do.

Brad again is right that the AP acts as a multi gauge. It runs anything from injector duty cyle, to intake temp, boost, rpms, vehicle speed, and many others. All of which can be "logged". After "logging" the parameters you just have to connect the AP to your laptop/desktop, and save the "logged" info. After that you can view it, email it to a tuner to be tweaked, or whatever you feel like you need to do with it.

You have to have the kiwi wifi cord and an app on the phone, but yes you can.

Just to clarify, you can't tune with an iphone, just monitor.
