My son is in College at the U of Florida, and will be bringing his '03 WRX up to the King of Prussia area in PA at the end of April. We bought it new in '03. Our problem is that since it has been at school, he has modified the car a bit without any formal plan. The car's PA Inspection ran out about 2 years ago, and his Service Engine Soon light is on constantly. It will probably not pass the PA inspection until we get what I refer to as a "Street Tune" (Sorry, but I'm a Corvette guy and drive an '09 ZO6), or what I've read on this forum referred to as a "Reflashed ECU".
I spoke with Cobb and their unit will not help his situation because he does not have all Cobb parts in his modifications. He has a non Cobb air intake, a Cobb up-pipe and down-pipe, an aftermarket cat-back exhaust, a blow-off valve, and aftermarket headers.
I was hoping to find a tuner service in our area that could properly tune his car, and would appreciate any help from somebody referring a good one to us.
I've never used them but phoenixville motorsports has an AWD dyno. Last time I was there (been 3 years mind you), they only did ecutek (which sucks) and I had a bad experience with them I don't want to get into. Anyway, if you can't find other options, they'd work. Phoenix Performance Inc
The shop I'd recommend doesn't do tuning but they do inspections, repairs, and installs: 422 Motorsports
Their site says ford but they're good guys who have worked on my Subaru before.
Also try looking for Protuners in Jersy or Maryland.PDX I think also does E-tunes that will work as well.
Now if your son does not yet have an Aceesport I might have a solution that might keep your wallet alittle fatter but requires you to have a laptop and follow instructions to a "T" It's basiclly a solution like TunerPro is for GM cars.
It's Opensource tuning. The software is free, maps are free or cheap and the only cost is the OBDII-USB cable.I have been using it for years with great results tuning my own cars and friends cars (in person and over the internet). Also you can used premade maps (just like the Accessport) so you don't have to tune it yourself or find an Opensource tuner in your area to dyno tune it.Some quick info on it:

We had purchased the Cobb Accessport from them a couple of years ago, but had to return it when none of their maps worked on his car. Unfortunately, we found this out after discussing it with them initially.
I'll do research on Opensource Tuning to see if we are capable of doing this ourselves. I am amazed and happy to see so many of you who have taken their hobbies seriously, and have learned a lot about your cars. Unfortunately, I have been so busy working and raising a family, that I missed out on getting my hands dirty under the hood...aside from oil changes and minor tweaks, and also totally enjoying driving sports cars.

I'll give Phoenixville Performance a call and drive out to see their shop, as well as contact 422 Motorsports to ask for their in-put.
I guess I'm spoiled that there are several excellent Corvette specialist shops around our area, that can do anything imaginable to these cars. But, I wish I had had the time over the years to really get into doing a lot of this work myself.
I am really impressed with how much knowledge the car enthusists on this forum have developed, and I have learned much from reading through the threads. It's also nice to see that you and others are willing to be so helpful, and I thank you.
If you want to drool over corvettes, definitely stop by Phoenix Performance. It's good for that if nothing else... They have so many custom and track prepared corvettes in there it'll make your head spin. You wouldn't be the only 09 Z06 in the lot, lets put it that way.

I just got my Jetstream Blue ZO6 in January in Florida, and had it transported here in an enclosed truck a few weeks ago. I am absolutely in love with this car. Had it out around the back roads in Willistown a couple of days ago, and everything about this car is right...power, handling and comfort. GM did a great job with the ZO6, and I just hope they will be around long enough to keep making great strides with the Corvette.
This is my third Corvette, and previously had an '86 and an '01 coupe versions. This car is a big leap forward in performance.
I had it down to County Corvette in West Chester for a few minor mods last week. They have a real nice facility right down to complete frame-off restorations, and they also modify cars for the track. Somebody recently told me about Phoenix Performance, and I'll definitely check them out when I get the chance.
I am going to sign up for a performance driving program in Arizona next fall, and I'm looking forward to learning how to really handle the ZO6, which is a beast of a car.
I'm not sure you'd be interested, by there is a large Corvette only show in April 18 and 19 at the Atlantic City Convention Center. Phoenix Performance is listed as one of the vendors. They are going to have a car from every year that the Corvette has been produced, plus many modified cars.
Ask that tuner if they do open source or any other source of tuning besides ecutek. If you have to settle for ecutek keep in mind that they put a lock on your ecu and it wont be accesable with other software. So if you at any time decide to upgrade a turbo or anything that would require a tune, you are going to have to go to an ecutek dealer to unlock it and charge you out the yang. If im not mistaken it also prevents you from datalogging.
It's some straight communist stuff going on with ecutek.
