uh guys, many of us are talking about two different engines here.

The WRX 2.0L puts about the same peak torque down as hp
The WRX 2.5L puts down considerably more torque down than hp
The STi's 2.5L puts down a little more torque than hp.

Course any tune can change things slightly.

BTW: That dyno chart is an 06 or 07 WRX definately

04 STi 16G powered lagless fun

I don't know if you guys have seen this but there is a bugeye with 477awhp on the stock 2.0L ej20.

generally soob motors prodice more torque than horsepower. this is due to large diameter pistons which give good push ans a short crank, so more of your displacement is piston than stroke. this makes for a powerful push and the short crank allows for the high rpms.

plus the firing oder is 1324 on each bank both pistons fire almost simultaneously, one piston is firing just as the other one is on its way to bdc. and alternately between both sides you have a "siamesed" power stroke and thus its almosts like 2 very large pistons,and this is why it sounds like a harley when it runs with blown out exhaust gaskets.

observe

ea82
* Displacement: 1781 cm³
* Bore: 92 mm
* Stroke: 67 mm
* Compression Ratio: 8.7:1 or 9.0:1 SPFI
* Valvetrain: SOHC
* Horsepower: Carb - 84@5200, SPFI - 90@5600, MPFI - 97@5200
* Torque: Carb - 101@3200, SPFI - 101@2300, MPFI - 103@3200
ea82t
Additional Specifications

* Turbo: IHI Corporation model RHB5 VF7
* Compression Ratio: 7.7:1
* Supercharging Pressure: 7 psi
* Horsepower: 111@5200
* Torque: 134@2800

er27 (xt6)
Specifications

* Displacement: 2672 cm³
* Bore: 92 mm
* Stroke: 67 mm
* Compression Ratio: 9.5:1
* Valvetrain: SOHC
* Horsepower: 145@5200
* Torque: 156@4000

as you can see the torque is more than the horsepower, and occurs at lower rpms. and if you compare the turbos spec the toque occurs greatest at the lowest rpm. whatever the HP rating is at 5252 rpm the torque curve will match it there.

so with the er27 you have 156 tq at 4000 rpms and 145 hp at 5200 rpms, you will actually have 145 tue at the top of the horsepower curve since it lands at 5200 rpm

in the january issue of modified mag, AMS performance was able to get 350whp and 401wtq on stock internals on a 05 STi. the only mods it had was CAI,DP,CBE, and a protune done by AMS
there tuning wa a little extreme i thought, they claimed to be running 21psi by reflashing the ECU

That is about as useless a powerband as I have ever seen. Although it does make some crazy power.
One way to find out how much "your" cars internals can handle, bolt on everything make alot of power and when the motor lets go you know you have found the magic number for "your" car.

Dom, our tuner was tuning his 07 STI tonight at my work and he has 350 WHP and 390 WTQ on a mustang dyno, and thats on stock internals.

Dom Tuned 2003 WRX Wagon
251.3 WHP
235.8 WTQ

If it's worth doing, it's worth overdoing
