launch control

I have an 04 wrx with a cobb ap and a protune map loaded on it.

i would really like to get launch control for my car, but i dont know wht is the cheapest and best way to go about this. I know some of my frineds have other em's on their car and they do it no problem. Is there anyway i can do this through a version 2 ap???

thanks

I know Cobb has launch control maps for thier OTS maps, not sure how or if they work when the AP has been protuned. I know they are on their site if you want to take a look at them.

Yes, on cobbs website they have launch control maps that you can download to your computer under cobb ap manager. Select the map to download on your computer, download that onto your ap and then re-flash your car with that map...the launch control comes with flat foot shifting on the map as well...since you are ALLREADY protuned you will have to go back to your tuner and have em start off from that map as a base in order to have your LC function....since you didnt have the LC function on the map they started with its not there...I've also heard that tuners can set LC on maps if you just ask, they may charge for it...if you get it from cobb its free!!

From what ive researched on cobb's site, is that they only have the launch control available for the 06 wrx and the Sti's. You would probably have to do it through your tuner.

Opensource currently has the ability to do Launch Control on the 2.0L WRX'S (02-05) and 2.5L WRX's.As stated earlier Cobb has only released LC maps for the 2.5L WRX's (06+) and STI's

Oh that sucks, didnt know cobb didnt offer LC on the 2.0's...love it though, launch control..perfect launches every time. Consistent 1.7 sec 60' times. Love flat foot shifting too..so much smoother of a shift...just gotta set all your rpm's just perfect for a smooth transition.

I have been talking with someone from Cobb. They are currently working on and plan to release LC sometime soon for the 2.0L owners.

that sounds awesome. Is there any negative reprecussions of having launch control on the stock block with the stock pistons?

Garage
No, it's a tranny concern not an engine concern. The stock 5-speed doesn't like launching...

thats what i was wondering. If you use launch control with the stock 04 wrx tranny will do severe damage after a while? i dont plan on launching it to often though.

How about ANY launching on the stock tranny will/can do damage regardless if you use launch control or not................

do you think the 08 wrx tranny is just as fragile? i launch pretty rarely, usually only when im egged on by friends who have never been in my car, and always feather the clutch slightly to ease the stress on the tranny.

ya i figured but the does the launch control put less stress on the tranny. I say this because i suck at launching but thats prob cause im to afraid to. It kind of sucks because awd cars launch sick but my tranny is too weak : (
