Lack of O2 sensors

My son recently purchased an 05 WRX. He believes that it does not have any O2 sensors on it. If thats the case, how can it still run as good as it does? It has an A/M up pipe, down pipe and complete exhaust w/o cats.

The car would barely run with both O2 sensors missing

The main O2 sensor is the front one. It is located on the passenger exhaust manifold before the up-pipe. The car would have DTC's for the missing sensors.

Thanks guys. I need to investigate further. I didn't think it would run very well at all w/o the sensors. It idles roughly, but above about 2500 rpm's, it's strong and smooth.

It does at least have the sensor in the manifold!
