keeping a eye on things

ok so i understand that my 04 wrx is touchy when it comes to modding as well as all wrx ya know getting it tuned with modifications to make it run properly and to its full potential and i haven't found a thread yet on this but i want to keep an eye on things i was wondering what would be the best way to watch whats going on with my car such as temp and boost ect.so my question is .is there a good set up like a heads up system for my car i had a lly duramax and had a edge incite and loved how much it told me about what was going on even down to injector balance rates and i was curious to see if there was anything like that for my 04? i dont want to be negligent and get a few gauges and leave it at that
thanks for all the help

Cobb AP. Tune your car, and monitor anything that the ECU sees. You can only view one at a time, but you are also able to log and make on the fly adjustments (with the proper software) and map changes. Or just go super rice and put about 20 Gauges in your car. I run 3 gauges now (Oil Pressure, A/F and EGT) and I plan to run a few more eventually. There really isnt too many things you have to worry about on these cars (if you get a good and proper tune).

Sorry Kevin, didnt mean to still the thunder, lol. But theres a reason the Cobb AP is a little on the pricey side, it does many things, which I have used just about every function of it with no problems, and have loved having it for the past 6 yrs on my car. Thats probably they easy way to monitor dang near anything you want on our cars.

You can have the AP and still be tuned with it. Who do you plan on using if you go to Oregon? I was tuned by Tim Bailey, Surgeline Tuning is his place. The man is great. I have about 12 Maps just for my 20G turbo setup, took him just over an hour to do.

Hey Joshua, out of curiosity what does Tim Bailey charge for his tunes, is it mod specific? Or by the hour?

When I did it, the shop was having a dyno day, it cost me about $325. He used to only charge by the hour. Im pretty sure the man has a base map for almost any setup you can think of. I know when he tuned my car he started at wastegate pressure and moved up. He had the car fire up and running almost instantly.

Nice. I was just trying to give the op a $ figure to look at. So he can make his choice with all the info he needs.

Got you Kevin, good looking out. Best thing to do is either follow them on Face Book (Im a stalker like that, lol), or just call/email them. I have talked or dealt with just about everyone at that shop, and they are all great knowledgeable people. They do like to stay busy so sometime of appointment will surely be needed also.

You'd have to buy an AP either way, even if you get the protune (which is a custom AP tune). Surgeline only tunes Cobb APs.
