first off i'm glad there is such a dedicated site to this car with so much knowledge and experience! I have been reading for a while and the help/advice you guys can provide is priceless to me with limited funds for play toys...
I am trying to figure out what to do about tuning my car as it is a 2003 wrx rebuilt stock 2.0 motor with about 700 miles on the rebuild.
mod/maintanence list
fresh engine build,-honed cylinders,new pistons/rings
ACL race series rod and main bearings
new gaskets/heads rebuilt
new gates timing belt and pulleys/gaskets O rings
CHRA cartridge for the stock td04 with balance sheet
new OE exedy clutch, pilot bearings, surfaced flywheel.
full ss exhaust mod catless downpipe/catless straight 4" midpipe
AEM 30-4100 uego wideband afr gauge
AEM truboost ebc gauge set to 17psi
HKS BOV
STI intercooler
car has been lowered with subaru forester cut springs...ugh
had to put new tires on right away as they were shot!
as far as I know that is all. I am by no means a mechanic so I am learning a lot as i go along and have a friend who can help with the mechanics part but not tuning. The body is rough. bad paint needs new front bumper/fender but i was really looking for a rebuilt engine to put some miles on and not a beauty queen. any advice would be appreciated on what to do with tuning. I like all the flexibility the cobb accesport provides. I am just wondering if I will be getting results out of it without car being protuned since mods/rebuild. I live south of Charlotte so there are great tuners within an hour. $650 for the cobb, and i'm guessing $500+ with motion lab etc..
money is a big deal as this isn't my DD so i just want to spend wisely.
thanks in advance
