Intake silencer Delete. 2011 wrx

Hey guys i just purchased a 2011 wrx premium. I was wondering if its safe to take out the intake silencer while im breaking in the engine. I bought it with 141 miles and its at 400 now.
I heard its give the car a better sound. Thats what im looking for.
Also is going over 4k bad during break in? Cause the manual say to keep it under 4k RPM for 1000miles. I think ive gone over 4k-52ish a couple times. Running it hard under 4k is alright then? This is my first subaru and so far its been an amazing ride!

This has been discussed super recently, but YES, please do give it some gas every now and again during break in! Luckily, it's likely that someone put the pedal to the metal during a test drive before you bought it. Here are 3 links to describe why. It actually was posted on my build thread as it was being discussed. Thanks to Matt (basco) and Chris (RcrsWetDream) for 2 of them.

Technically info for motorcycles, but the same info

Related to removing the silencer, you're completely fine to do so. It won't affect the break-in.

Like Brad said your definitely OK to remove the silencer, and now in your break-in your at the point where you can run up to redline as much as you want, just make sure you let the car fully warm before doing so

08+ WRX don't have a silencer. It's as loud as the stock intake will ever get right now.

2nd that, 08+ no longer have the "snorkus", it's ram air.

Anyone have a video of the intake sound it makes without the silencer? I was thinking about taking mine off but was just wondering what it sounded like before I do the work.
