Question Help Engine Management!!!!

i am really looking towards an engine management system really soon....within the week. I read that the cobb AP will eliminate the CEL and help pass emissions.....will the UTEC do the same? Which do you all recommend for EM? Thank you.

Personally, I went with a Cobb AP because it sounds easier to use. I ordered it yesterday and I hope it's as awesome as everyone says it is... trying not to get my hopes up too high, but I'm definitely pretty excited about it (p.s. www.wesellcarparts.com is offering free shipping on it right now )

I have an ap also.. I got it because of its easy use. Yes it is better to get protuned than thier off the shelf maps but they work good. And yes you will be happy with it.

now with the Cobb, you cant street tune it unless you buy the street tune package later correct? I guess my biggest delema is that i am having a heck of a time trying to get my car to pass inspections because of the CEL from when i got the turbo back exhaust.

Basically all forms of EM eliminate CELs. You can also get a protune or roadtune with the AP if you choose. Theres other options, opensource may be a good one to look at as it is very inexpensive if you have a laptop. You should read the stickies in the EM forum on this site and get a better idea of what your options are.

ok so basically if i got the cobb ap or the utec, it would eliminate my problem with the CEL. Thank you. I am also curious, as of right now my car seems to be stuttering or something. Not sure if it is because of the turbo back exhaust and it threw off something with the a/f ratio or something. Will the EMS take care of that as well?

Yes. Running a TBE without EM will not run smoothly. If you get EM and run stage 2 it will smooth it out. If you want the ability to tune it yourself right out of the box get the UTEC. If you just want to set it and forget it get the AP. You can also look into open source tuning. There are a lot of forms of EM out there do some research and find what is best for you.

Anything you do past stage 2 will require a protune of some sort. I am assuming that you will not be doing your tuning yourself. If that is the case you will be fine with either option. If you know who will be doing your tuning then talk to them and see what they like to use.
