I bought new headers, up pipe, 3 inch cat less downpipe, and three inch exhaust. It has one resonator and a muffler. Am I going to have to get a tuner for my car after I put my parts on?
Ideally any time you change the intake or exhaust path you should get a tune. The pre 2008 WRX is considerably more tolerant of changes to the intake/exhaust path than the 08+ models but I would strongly suggest you get a tune for your new parts list. If nothing else you will make safer power and more power with a proper tune than you would running all those parts without.
That would be considered a stage 2 + ( Stage 2 is downpipe +catback ) Personally I would reach out to a e-tuner. Once you start swapping headers and running catless pipes a professional tune is really your only option. None of the Off The Shelf tunes are prepped for catless downpipes and headers.
As for recommendations for tuners I have been very pleased with Eric over at Torqued Performance. He has responded to my emails in 10-15 minutes more times than I can count. If you shoot him an email with your parts list he can get you setup with a nice base line tune to start logging with. Of course that would mean you need a tuner like an Accessport or a tactrix cable and a laptop to run in the car.
This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
