ECUFlash Problems

I have a brand new tactrix cable 2.0 and a eee pc netbook running windows 7 and the latest Version 1.42.2595 ecuflash

I have successfully connected to an 02 usdm wrx, but now I have tried my brothers 03 usdm wrx and I get this error:

[10:34:11.727] J2534 API Version: 04.04
[10:34:11.727] J2534 DLL Version: 0.50.2598 Jun 26 2009 15:02:29
[10:34:11.727] Device Firmware Version: 1.10.3020

[10:34:20.637] denso02_bootloader_cmd_start
[10:34:21.870] denso02_bootloader_cmd_start
[10:34:23.118] denso02_bootloader_cmd_start
[10:34:24.350] denso02_bootloader_cmd_start
[10:34:24.787] kernel get version
[10:34:25.099] interface close
[10:34:25.130] interface close

Yes the green plugs are connected.

What do I need to do???? I have read some threads suggesting this is related to the ECU previously being "locked" by tuning software. Is this true, if so can I unlock it?

the ecu is locked, usually only the tuner that tuned it before can unlock it

The car was modified and returned to stockbefore my brother had it.

Looks like he needs a used ECU

they can be a little hard to come by, before you go that route I would try to either contact the PO and find out who tuned it, or find the nearest ECUTek dealer and they should be able to unlock it for you

OK so I got a new ecu from a vendor on Ebay. The car runs fine on the replacement ECU. it seems to be a stock map.

The car STILL wont connect to ecuflash. I can log with Romraider no problem though

I have tried:
2 ECU's
3 computers (xp, vista and 7)
turning the car to "on" first... turning the car to on right before... doesnt make a difference.

The Tactrix cable does show up as connected in the bottom right corner of ECUflash

Once again here is the log:

SOLVED

The thing that FINALLY worked was to make sure I hit "OK" in ecu flash . . . waited a second or 2. . . and THEN turned the key to on. This was the only way I could keep the ECU from going strait into test mode without talking to ECUflash
