ECU replacement?

So I'm buying a 13 wrx and I'm planning to mod it if I bought a separate ecu and changed it before tunning could I just switch it back to the original if (knock on wood) something goes south?

Don't mod your car if your worried about warranty. It's very simple.

That's legally fraud.

Don't mod if you're incapable of dealing with the consequences.

Question: you get a different ecu and you have mods on the car. Something goes wrong and you have to take it in. Depending on the mods, but you're going to take all your mods off and put the stock parts back on as well? Just swapping the ecu probably won't be enough, i would think they could see the mods you have if you don't put stock parts back on? Also seems like a lot of work as you get more mods. Also when you get certain mods you can't go back to a stock tune usually without getting a cel which again they would see. Just some thoughts I'm throwing out there. And there's probably more...

Most newer Subarus have immobilizer systems, so switching ecus is not a simple "Plug and Play" affair.

I recommend reading up on the Magnuson-Moss warranty act to familiarize yourself with the laws regarding warranty coverage.

I find this as morally bankrupt as a dealership declining to warranty a repair based on a lie they made up to deny the claim.

Be aware that it's not as hard to spot a car returned to stock as you'd think. There are clear signs if someone is looking for it. Pro Import is also right. I forgot that your car also has an immobilizer. It's not just an ECU swap.
