E tunes really aren't that bad, just have to take the time to go do a pull and send an email. I went to the cobb ots stage 2 for a few weeks and didn't like it. It only gave me less boost and less gas milage.

Like brockton said, etunes aren't bad at all. Mine had me a revision within 30 min to an hour of me sending him a log. Even at 2am...lol. If I was you my first option would be to find some gumption to drive my lazy butt to mikey at "the shop " in conn. Second would be to get a etune from a reputable tuner. Last would be settle for a ots map. Not saying a ots map is gonna kill your car. Its just the lesser of the 3 choices. On the other hand, if your worried about the age of your car and how it will handle the extra load maybe you should just stay put. Maintenance plays a major role in longevity at any power level.

Lets not forget a dyno tune at the shop or efi logics is like 500 bucks, the e tunes cost 250 and the ots maps are free. im prob not getting the cashflow for just the dp till spring or summer anyway. just wanted to see what everyone elses experiences were before i make a bad decision. thanks for the input. its only got like 120,000 on it and it runs pretty good. hopefully a stage 2 tune wont hurt anything.

And an ap is 600. That's more expensive than a dyno tune. Im not sure if they do open source though and if they do what you have to have. None of the 3 I would consider a bad decision.

Actually the AP V3 is $650 with the maps so they're not free...

i already have an ap (im at stage 1 93oct.) and am pretty happy with it. i know most etuners now use the cobb ap anyway. most shops i talked to so far recomended things like up, headers, and a 3 port ecbs. which makes me think a ots with no supporting mods map is not a good idea.

Headers are unnecessary at the power levels you're at and want to be.

since the guy wouldnt profit from me buying a "header UP combo" he suggested, i figured he at the least wasnt trying to just make money off me. he said that it would lower my EGT's.

Here is my problem with people and their EGT temps....By the time that gauge reads the temp and sends it to you, it has already changed. The STi didn't come with an EGT in it and personally it's a waste of money to buy into that idea. Unless your running a diesel then I can see it.
