e-tunes

just curios about e tunes. has anybody ever done this and how many runs does it take? is it worth it?

boo-key bear 12-07-2013 09:39 AM

Took me 14 revisions and yes I think its worth it if you use a good tuner. If you search on here there are some other threads with info. Heres my tuners info and all you need to know about a etune http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2277357

I have one from eric mineheart (torqued performance), he was really cool about replying back to revise things, even worked with me through boost leak issues. His responses were pretty quick too. I think we had about 4 or 5 revisions throughout the process.

thekamikaze kid 12-07-2013 12:55 PM

14 revisions? wow. do you have to do 3rd gear wot runs or is it different types of runs?

boo-key bear 12-07-2013 01:00 PM

He had me change my wastegate spring midway through so we had to start all over. We did idle logs first then normal driving no boost then started doing wot logs. Yes 3rd gear.

14 revisions isn't as bad as it sounds. If you took your car to a shop on a dyno and had it tuned they could easily do 14 revisions worth in a couple of hours. And that's a small price to pay to have your car running at optimal performance, correctly. Good things come to those that wait.

Did you use Ron or Mike?
Did you use Ron or Mike?
I used Ron. Mike is hard to get cause he's so busy. They both are really busy these days. Ron just got a dyno. They both are great though.

psinuse 12-07-2013 06:57 PM

Yeah Ron actually posted on this form once then got pissed because it wasn't as busy as nabisco or some of the other sites.

boo-key bear 12-07-2013 07:44 PM

His loss cause were much cooler

To me that reflects on his business ideals...

Like I said, not all were wot pulls and we changed wastegate springs halfway through. 14 pulls isn't bad. Id rather do 100 pulls for a tuner who cares about getting it perfect than 5 for one who just gets close enough.

boo-key bear 12-08-2013 01:16 PM

Anyway op don't you have any shops close to you?

thekamikaze kid 12-08-2013 05:50 PM

no id have to drive to Conn. im too lazy to drive there but it seams that an etune is a lot of work. i might just go with an ots cobb stage 2 tune but im not sure as to how reliable those tunes are yet, especially with a car as old as mine.
