Breaking then stage or break in stages
 
So with getting this whole new motor, I am getting a v3 and my question is, should I break in the motor then state or break it in staged.
Also what is the best way to break in a new motor?

I don't know if it will be different in this case but when you buy a new wrx you keep the rpms under 4k rpms and no constant speed limits like taking the car on a road trip on the thruway for long periods of time. Typically you do that for the first 1k miles.

See this is the issue I am having,it is all a personal opinion. I've done so much research and still nothing solid!

[B]New engines do not require the historical break-in period that you are referring to.[/B] Best practices is just not to pin it like a madman for the first 1,000 miles, get an early oil change and you're done with it.

Personally I'd like to drive it in a performance capacity a while before the tune, but it's only because I'd like to appreciate the performace increase that your COBB AP V3 will bring.

Put your tune on it with your ap v3 and then just do whatever the owners manual says for break in.

Break it in without the tune.

Then when it's broken in, go GET tuned. Don't use the OTS maps. It seems like they've been blowing up more and more cars lately.

Nathan,
I do not believe in the idea that a modern engine does not require/need a break-in period so on that note I would refer to your owners manual. If it does not say anything about a break-in period you can do as I did when I had my 3sgte rebuilt and contact Subaru tuner shops and race teams while your car is still in the shop.

Also I would run it in stock form for the break-in period before you do the v3. It is better to be safe than sorry. [url]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Break-in_(mechanical_run-in[/url])
