AP Stage 2 not much of a noticable difference.

So i just put my down pipe on and flashed my car to stage 2 with the accessport. I was expecting a noticable difference. But my car almost feels more sluggish. Only real noticable difference is spool sound and it starts sooner. Any ideas?

What kind of downpipe? Was it a bellmouth or standard flange like the factory?

Its an 03 tho. Which from plenty of sources ive been told i can get away with quite a bit. I think the problem is my front o2 sensor in the manifold. I have a p0031 code so i have to fix that sensor. I saw on another thread that that can cause me to not reach boost target which im nowhere close to

^definitely fix the code.

An O2S code can definitely cause a loss of power, not to mention crummy gas mileage and other weird issues.

Once that's all sorted out I'm sure you'll be happy!

Again as I have said before, you can run a catted down pipe with an AP without issues. Replace the O2 and then reset your ECU. Should be good to go after that, unless there are other underlying issues.

Yes but being catless (no o2) plus an OTS map (doesn't accommodate catless) is where the problem lies. Those are things even you any get away with lol!

Ya idk ive heard too much on both sides of the issue. Ive heard plenty of people say that catless wont be ok but then pro tune shops have told me that the 02 and 03s are alright with it. Its going to be pro tuned at somepoint anyways. My question was more focussed to why i hadnt gained power. From my understanding either my bad front o2 sensor is causing it and/or i have a boost leak. Im going to change the o2 and put in a different up pipe and hope that takes care of it

Replace the O2 sensor and if you want to go catless you'll be fine.

My 08 is catless with a 02 fix, runs fine on the TP stage 2. As they said, get that code fixed and you should be fine. You'll love the power bump from the new map.

I know the feeling, when I went stage 2 I found out I had a boost leak in the actuator vac hose. Got that fixed only to have the coupler on my tmic leak because of the retarded rubber boots they put on the hose from the factory, took it off, no more leak. A couple weeks later thought I blew my turbo, high pitch squeeling under boost. After replacing the turbo it did the same thing. Did a boost leak test and found out it was the other side of the tmic to throttle body coupler. The rubber boot on the throttle body end blew out causing the high pitch squeal when the air passed through it. Took that boot off and clamped down the hose, finally running issue free.

Turbo cars can be a PITA, but they're worth it.

Just went stage 2 on 93 octane yesterday and I have CATs removed. Haven't noticed any issues but I definitely noticed a hell of a lot more power. Dynamometer from 2nd gear read 290 hp and 270 tq to the wheels. Ready to do some highway pulls against my buddies stock STI
the RIOT act likes this.
