I am not sure if I should go with a Mishimoto catted or catless DP for my 2015 WRX. I have COBB AP. I plan on also getting Mishimoto intake and TMIC. What issues, other than boost creep and emissions, can a catless DP cause? I have the upgraded STI exhaust also. Does anyone have this set up on their WRX yet? I'm not worried about emissions testing. Any help or suggestions would be great.
Catless DP tend to cause over boost on the older models. the 15 has a different type of turbo, and its in a new spot so im not sure what the effect of a catless DP would be.
I like the sound of catless, but not sure it is worth the possible outcomes. I did see someone on youtube with the same set up I'm looking for, but have no way of speaking to them.
Honestly for the extra hundred bucks I would go with the catted model. Some of the guys on here are old enough to remember days where you couldn't breath during summertime due to pretty nasty vehicle emissions, I have grown up around racing and lots of the old timers talk about how evil the cats are and in the same breath they remember the times when the smog was so bad you could cut it with a knife. A single cat will go a long ways towards cleaning up the gasses that come out the back of your STi exhaust and they are nominally limiting on airflow. Please consider everyone else when you are deciding for/against CATs. / end hippy rant /
IMO Catless exhaust systems are great for race day when you are monitoring the system very closely but not for daily driving.
With a high performance catted down pipe you will see similar numbers with a proper tune and you wont have to worry as much about boost creep.
Probably just go with catted Mishimoto JPipe rather than worry about other issues. Was going to order Mishimoto intake as well, but there currently isn't a tune out for COBB AP for a intake at this time. I wanted to install both at the same time rather than have to take all the guards off twice under the car. Also, I'm not sure if an intake, other than for the sound, is worth the price. From what I have read it provides no performance gains. I am not sure if a tune comes out for an intake if it would then be worth it or if it is only minimal gains. Would it be more worth while to add a new better TMIC than an intake? The cost is more than double though.
I was told from a very trusted member that Mishimoto sells crappy stuff. "Mishi is junk. Most of their products are riddled with problems. Their radiator caps leak, their welds suck (spot leaks), and the drain plug is known to dry rot quickly and suddenly fail. Not to mention, on top of quality issues, there is a thread on IWSTIs that shows that Mishimoto aluminum radiators , at least on GRs, results in higher coolant temps than the stock radiator." brfatal... four green squares for rep? I'd listen to this guy if I were you.

Several tuners have already come out and said that the Mishimoto intake will require custom tuning to use. If you want a reference, ask Bren Tuning. Honestly, I would go for something inexpensive but still quality, like Invidia, before Mishimoto. Mishi has started charging premium prices for newer parts when they are still a lower quality manufacturer.
