Hey. New to the forum and new to turbo subies. I am having what appears to be a tuning issue with my new to me 2011 wrx sport wagon. Here is what I could gather from the previous owner as far as mods.
TurboXS turbo back exhaust w/cat
RacerX FMIC
Grimmspeed boost control soleniod
50/50 BOV (which I hate and will be switching to full recirc asap)
Upgraded fuel pump of unknown make
K&N Typhoon cold air intake
The car is currently running an off the shelf stage 3 Torqued Performance tune that was supposibly set up for the options listed. Currently running 19psi boost. This is how I got the car.
I am looking for advice as far as what I believe to be a tuning issue, but not being familiar with the car yet I am open to suggestions. So here is the issue...
Car hauls ass and makes great power after I found that the hose to the boost control solenoid was off at the turbo causing an overboost issue. Two issues.
#1 When on decel, the car will almost always stall when coming to a stop. It does not seem to make a difference if it is engine breaking or just a rapid throttle closure. When it does not stall is seems like it is hunting for the right fuel mixture. The idle bobbles and the afr's bounce between very rich and very lean which is disturbing. Almost like an 1g DSM with a bad throttle body is the best example I can give.
#2 but related to the first....I did NOT have the stalling problem when the hose was off the turbo. A local guy claims there could simply be an issue of the cold temps here and the cold air intake.
At the moment I do not have the Access Port that is married to the car. I am buying all parts he has for the car in one lump but just can't afford it for a bit.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated
