06 2.5WRX octane question

Can I run 91 octane with a stg 1 setup? How about stg 2?

Why - Why not?

I know Cobb's AccessPORT has basic off-the-shelf (usually preloaded onto the unit) maps that allow you to use either 91 or 93 octane fuel with both their Stage 1 and Stage 2 setups. It is very clear which map is which when you reflash your ecu.

Is using the AP the same as getting it professionaly tuned at a shop or the same?

It is not the same. It is a better base map than the factory gives but it is not like a custom map made for your car's exact capabilities.

The cobb maps are great because they're easy to put on an off and they have maps for a variety of common part setups (and both 93 and 91 octane maps). They're not going to maximize your power though.
