Talking wrx short throw shifter. Should it rattle?

I just recently purchased a wrx sportwagon with the short throw shifter. I've noticed that the shifter vibrates alot and makes a pretty loud rattling noise. I was wondering if this was normal for this shifter and if anyone else has experienced this. The dealership says it is normal, but I don't know if i believe them. IF so what is the reason for it.

The short-shifter does seem to transmit more noise.
I haven't noticed any unusual vibration though.......or any loud rattling.
Might be something loose in there , you should INSIST on them checking it.
However , I'm used to driving race type cars , where vibration and noise is normal , in fact this car is MUCH too quiet for my taste

I can't compare w/ the normal shifter cause mine came stock w/ the short shifter, but it does seem to rattle a tad. Though it depends cause mine doesn't rattle (or I don't feel it) at high speeds; just when I'm idle.

It shouldn't rattle. The gear shift rod is probably hitting the front of the baseplate a little in a certain gear. Does it rattle in all gears or just 1st, 3rd and 5th? Mine did this too until I loosened the screws on the baseplate and shifted it a little. It does vibrate more though.
