My trans is gone, no doubt about it, second is in peices, syncros for just about every gear, front diff, main and pinion shafts, yeah she needs a whole rebuild, but im affraid the rebuild will just throw me back into the shop a few miles out...so, im calling n the power of WRXTUNERS to search with me for a whole trans, or a sturdy rebuild kit, i know i've seen adds in my Mags before, but googles searchs are nothing compared to this forums power of you guys. So im asking for a somewhat cheep, street, transmisson including the front diff. Oh and a trans thats not going to have the same firt gear problems thjat every 02 WRX trans does...THANK YOU!!! !Thumbs Up
You can't have both. But, there are many people who make good strong gearsets. The RA gearset is very popular, but it has different ratios than stock. Kaaz makes some. As does TurboXS. Gimmie Gears also sells gear sets.
sometimes I sit and daydream about doing that to the wagon. My wife says that she does not understand putting 6k into making my car almost as good as an STi. Alas, I just have to hope that someday we will get a USDM STi wagon.
the RA gear set will be more then enuf.. thier have been people that have put 380-400whp range and havent broken thoes gears.they will also take 2 tenths of a second off your 1/4 time. the 6 speed will just make your e.t slower.. but 6 speeds are nice.. iam just wondering how your broke second gear with thoes mods you have?

Actualy, i bout the car as is, with warrenty, or so i thought, when i bought the car, the trans already had the infamous first gear grinding, and fourth gear was grinding at high RPMs, so i figured the suncros where going so i need to fix those, well then fifth gear went, for no reason, didnt even use it that day. Then as i got to know the car better, i knew for sure that the trans had been beaten pretty bad, oh werll gotta deal with that. So then i let a friend drive and he powershifted into second at full throttle and blew second clean into peices. So thats about the story, and i would GREATLY appreciate some links to some sites that would sell or have reference to the differnt treans options. Nice, thank you, as always you guys came through im gonna look thorugh these right now and hopefully i have pics of the trans i pic for the job, i have pictures im goin to post of the beat trans, check em out to see the catastrophy and my advise to anyone interested in an 02, make sure you didnt have some ignorant shit-head that drove it before you cause that trans does not like neglect. My transmission is an auto (I know, I know...) and is sitting at Level10 as I type. I'll let you know how it is when I get it back - should be back on the road by this time next week. They claim it's the all sorts of improvements - better mileage, shorter quarter times, more HP, all due to increased efficiency.
I was to the shop yesterday and I'm definately impressed so far - they really seem to know their stuff and the cars they had around the garage shows that a bunch of people with a whole lot more resources (read: $) than I do trust them, too!
