Ok guys, I was drivin down the road today and merging into traffic I took off in 3rd and shifted into 4th pretty quickly but as soon as i hit 4th it grinded and continues to do so unless i shift like a grandma. What could the diagnosis be? Also would the Dealership fix it under warranty, well hence I put the stock parts back on?

Sounds like your syncro went bad. All you can do is try to get them to fix it. They may say that it was due to abuse and deny the warranty.

the car only has 17800 miles on it and it has this problem and the funny thing is I dont really bang 4th at all, could be a previous owner putting abuse on it? the car came with spt exhaust, cobb short throw, and the air silencer removed. I dont really know what to do, or say for that matter

Put the stock shifter back in it and take it to get fixed. You should be fine.

Problem is i bought the car from carmax and the cobb was already in it, i dont have the stock shifter
I am sure someone has one that you can buy or borrow. Post something in the NASIOC wanted section or find someone with an 08 in your area and ask if you can swap for a little while. To swap shifters takes about 10 min if you don't have an STi.

yeah man if you can get the stock shifter somehow it should be covered under warranty for sure..that'd be my first option...if not, you'll have to buy a new synchro set...
