Tranny gears question

I pick up my 02 wrx tomorrow and have the following questions,
The car has a larger than stock turbo and other mods making the car about 300whp. The tranny was just rebuilt, but with stock gears. Will stock gears handle normal driving of the car or not? Also, I have straight cut gears 2 thru 4 and was thinking of getting those put in the car in the future. Advisable or no? Any advice is appreciated.

It's all how you drive it. The more launches/hard, fast shifts you do are going to shorten its life. It could also last forever with no issues. Hard to guess on something like that. Straight cut gears are usually loud as well (Reverse is straight cut for example)

I actually test drove the car with straight gears in it and didn't mind the noise. I don't plan on doing any hard launches but want to be comfortable driving the car slightly aggressive. I can also tune the turbo down to about stock if that will prolong tranny life.

Contact PPG or Albins.

But think about it. If you are going in there, 2nd wouldn't be a bad replacement either.

Garage
gently "rolling" on and off the throttle will help prevent shockloading the transmission more than "tuning down" the turbo
