Stuck in the sand=burnt clutch

So I went to this new fishing spot and ran into some deeper than I thought sand and got stuck..that is until I put DCCD into manual lock position and feathered the clutch and got myself unstuck...but damn I burnt the clutch bad....and it STINKS!!!! I drove the car after getting stuck and drives fine with no slipping, noises or anything but my car just smells really bad. When should this smell go away? and how will I know if I destroyed my clutch? I'm actually in florida right now and I have a 800 mile journey back to NC tomorrow. Kinda trippin.--Z

The smell will be there for awhile... I let my friend drive my car and he burned my clutch so bad, the smell stayed in the car for 2+ days. He told me he knew how to drive a stick... well he doesn't.

eewwww....my wife is gonna be pissed that we have to smell that shit for 800+ miles. Well, I let her cool down for a while and took her for a drive and no slipping...I guess i would feel some slipping if I ruined it ya?

I'm sure you clutch is fine, I burnt mine countless times really badly when I was first learning to drive. I've been stuck in the snow and feel your pain. The smell is horrible!

I know when I first got my STi after about 7 passes at the drag strip, I burnt the crap out of the clutch and it lasted for about 4 days. It all depends on how bad you burnt the clutch.

rollin on 17's now and they're dirty

Well I guess no one really knows a specific time frame huh? I guess if the stankness doesnt go away in a couple days then I'll take her in.

If your clutch is still working fine and you're not getting any slippage you should be alright. The more you burnt your clutch the more the smell will last. It really all depends on how bad you burnt it.

I would wait till my clutch actually went out to do anything. But that's just me.
