stuck in first, gear stick is stuffed

G'day,

Not sure what has happened but this is the cause, I didn't dump it, was actually turning and as It straightened up I put my foot down, now i think i did it going into 3rd but the car went out of gear, rolled onto the side of the road, my whole gear stick feels stuffed. I can move it back and forward but not sideways, pull it up and thats about it.
I somehow got it into first gear and drive 12kms all the way home in first gear.

Have the bushings gone?

Got a new OEM clutch last week, pushing about 200kw at the wheels.

Help

This sounds very similar to an issue that I had. I'm not saying it's the same thing but I broke a shift rail which left the trans in first but the shifter was movable but not all the way kind of like what yours sounds like.. It's something to look at.

All sorted out, well kind of.

When i hit third the gear stick popped out of the socket/pivot so next morning i hit in back in with a mallet and all good.

Few days later i was overtaking a truck and i hit fifth and she popped out again, lucky i wasn't far from home and some1 bought me a mallet. With the cover off, i mucked around with shifting to see what was happening and when i push it into third or fifth the socket/pivot raises a few mm and the stick is on the verge of popping out again, is the stock bushing stuffed?

I replaced mine, the Ball / socket was not expensive, I think it was like 10 bucks. Don't foget to get a new O ring. Believe it or not that is the only thing that holds the shifter ball into the socket.. An O ring.. Anyway, there is a "C" clip on the bottom of the socket that you need to pull remove before it will lift out of the metal framework.. It is kind of a pain in the butt to get to but it is doable..

Exclamation

I recently had the EXACT same issue. I mean , dead to rights exactly the same. Had a clutch replaced. Then a couple weeks later I'm out spinnin scoobynuts in the snow, i go to shift into 3rd gear and the shifter just keeps going and I hit my knuckles on the center console.

I freaked because I thought it was something completely wrong with the transmission or something like that. I tear open the shifter area of the console and find that it simply popped out of the boot.

I went and picked up some parts based on the diagram attached to this thread. : (courtesy of this thread:
http://www.scoobymods.com/kartboy_sh...ings-t205.html )

Based on the diagram I bought 35087 and 099910190. The dealer had slightly different part numbers.

I get the part and it's a RUBBER o-ring. So you're telling me a F'n piece of rubber is holding the ball of the shifter in place?

Can you comfirm that for me please?

thanks

Sorry again for being a bit slack in not coming back more often.

Took my car back to the place that put the new clutch in, they said there was a circlip missing somewhere so they fixed it up, would of been nice if the problems stopped there.

I saw a clip on youtube about the 2009 WRXs and thought i could take the gear stick off and fix up, but apparently its a different setup? Didn't have the time to muck around with it so i left it to the mechanic.

Problem i have now (only since i got the new clutch) is that when i release the clutch, go to accelerate or brake hard i hear a thump in the drive train section. Took it back to the same mechanic and they reckon they spent 3 hours searching, checked mounts and cant work out what it is. So when i get a chance im off to the subi dealer to get their thoughts, maybe they have seen it before but i doubt it.
