sti transmission for my wrx

As some of you may know my transmission broke on my wrx the 3rd day i had it (got it brand new) im not getting into that.. but i was thinking.. i need to replace my entire transmission... would anyone suggest putting in the STI 6 speed if it will work? i figure its gotta be a little more beefed up in strength since it is designed for a 300hp sti. also i think the 6speed aspect would be really cool.

any thoughts?

Red face

adding the 6 speed mt...
wouldnt you also need to change the driveshaft?

and wouldnt that, in turn, require a different rear diff?

and wouldn't THAT also mean different rear axles and hubs??? !Cry!

seriously...
you will need at a minimum:
Tranny, sti clutch and flywheel, shortened stock driveshaft, shifter, shift boot, shift knob, 3.90 ring and pinion.

Other Recommended items:
DCCD controller, STi front axles and hubs, Complete STi R180 rear end with axles, hubs and R180 diff.

www.rallispec.com is the place to check it out.

and yes.. it's all been done already

5 grand is about half what I've seen most places. The transmission alone is close to that.

I'd reccomend getting a beefed up set of new gears. A lot of people like the V7 sti gearset.

I have heard that the gears are not the weak part of the WRX transmission, but the trans case itself. I think the trans case is two peice and during hard driving it expands/flexs allowing the the gears to seperate and then come back together in turn sheering off teeth. The STi along with being stronger in most aspects has a one peice trans case taking care of the problem. I think what I would do would be to make/buy a trans brace if their is such a thing. And if there is such a thing, please link the product so I can check it out as well.
