STi 2nd Gear

What needs to be done to 2nd gear in the new Sti tranny in order to strengthen it? Synchros?Shift fork?Hub or Sleeve mods?

Is there a 2nd gear issue with the STi 6 speed? This is the first I've heard of it. I thought that thing was basically bulletproof!?!

I didnt have a single problem with the STi tranny when I had mine; I loved that thing so damn much. Only problem I had was learning how to shift with the six speed and all, but that was due to me.

i was also thinking about the upgrading my WRX to a STi tranny. how much do you think the up grade will cost, i also heard that in order to to that you had to buy some other parts in order for it to work right.

Well since the tranny alone runs around $6995 you are looking at least $8,000 if you dont' do it yourself, probably more.

You can get all the parts for an STi tranny swap for 4k-5k used. I forget what all is needed, but I am pretty sure you need atleast a STi drive shaft. Look around on the classifieds on NASIOC and you will find the swaps

Yep!

I believe they are called the "tuning factory inc" since they merged with a bunch of guys i know from another shop called autowerks.

I do not know any of the godspeed people really, but they are credible from what I have been told. I am going to be going there for a baseline and a tune.

Or you could put in a RA gearset, I think this would be cheaper

The RA gears are for the 5 speed tranny, the STI's here are 6 speed so that wouldn't work.
