I have an 08 wrx 40000 miles. When I accelerate or decelerate I notice a rubbing sound that is quite noticeable coming from my engine it sound like. Could this be motor mounts? Or something in the suspension?
It only does it when I accelerate or apply torque to the engine. Doest do it in nuetral. Seems to be only
Making the noise if the engine shifts or torque is being applied or I am slowing the vehicle down. Nothing is dragging. This weekend I put an HKS EVC S boost controller on it but it was making the noise before that.
It's rubbing for sure and not whining? Usually motor mounts will make sort of a thumping sound or vibrate and you can feel the vibration. Hard for me to swallow a car with 40000 on it with bad motor mounts too, unless the car has been clutched and shifted by a 6 year old it's entire life. Can you rock the motor by hand?
Got the mbc for 200. And I have tuned it according to specs from other drivers of the same controller with same cars and similar mods to mine. I have no issue with the mbc. It's aggressive pushing about 13.5 psi at higher rpms and a lower setting for economy. I haven't read any bad reviews about this product either, must be a preference thing.
The noise is a rubbing sound almost like a door opening that hasn't been greased in a while. Like a creaking noise but more fluid sounding and only when I apply torque Lethe engine moves.
The engine makes no sound in neutral and I can't think of anything else it is.
Grab someone to take the vid when you are driving and have them try to pinpoint the area.
You know as a last resort you can take it to a place with a lift and pinpoint when the car is running on the lift (albeit not the safest thing to do, it may help).
