I'm getting my tranny and clutch put in soon and i was looking at MTL 70w80 redline fluid what do you guys think would it be a good idea yes or no if not what should i go with i know this is been asked over and over but everybody has told different.
i blew my second gear up in my 03 wrx and the dealership put what ever they use in it and it shifted rough so i drained it and put 3 qt of mt 90 and 1 qt light weight shookproof in and it shifts so smooth now. go for it!!!!
My local parts store only has red line MTL 70W80 is it any different from MT90 and if i wanted to get a quart of shockproof i would probably have to order it on line, than i would have to wait a week or more which it sucks because I'm planing to get my tranny put together this weekend.
I don't really understand why you would mix the shockproof in when running straight shockproof works so good.
The shockproof is a friction modifier. I wouldn't recommend doing that.

I would wait until you can get MT90 + super lightweight shockproof or whatever weight the manual says... it's 75W90 or something like that.

Theres a site online that I ordered my MT90 from. I wish I could remember where it was. They had a lot of Redline products. Try doing a Yahoo shopping search

Why? What do you mean by friction modifier, and what is your proof? There was a rep over on Nasioc that was saying they could not officially recommend running straight shockproof, (not rated) but lots of Subie guys where seeing it work so good, he did not see any major problems. I have been running it for 10k now and love it. What are your objections?
