power steering racks

so i was wondering would a '08 sti rack and pinion fit on a '12 wrx? if it does that would be great since mine is starting to go out. so if anyone could help that would be great.

They look the same, but I have no idea, they really aren't any more robust that the wrx's though. They suffer from the same issues, and the whiteline bushings stiffen up the steering feel and center slop nicely. Whats wrong with yours?

mine is leaking power steering fluid so i figured i would replace it before something really bad happens. so there wouldn't be a problem if i used an sti rack on my wrx.

Isn't the turning ratio...barely different on a STI rack?

^That's what I thought.

It seems like a lot of subaru racks leak from the pinion valve. Its a $250 part and is pretty easy to swap out with basic tools and a couple line wrenches.

Here's a related link from Nasioc forums: STI steering rack vs Wrx steering rack - NASIOC

"WRX ratio is far, far too slow for almost any type of driving. Here are your options:

Small- STi upgrade, cheap and easy
Medium- L&E Fabrication quick column, still cheap and easy but super fast ratio
Large- Q-Rack, crazy expensive compared to the other two but most common upgrade"

The Q rack is also hard to drive with on a daily, and be sure to warn someone about it if they drive your car. It turns very quickly.
