Why re-invent the wheel? Get some RA gears and call it a day!

probably not. there are many aspects that are going to prevent this. the simplest being size. second, 5th will be setup for syncros to a missing 6th. and, you will have an absolutely crap top end ratio.

RAs arent that great, maybe a 10-15% stronger. Still cant drop the clutch or hammer the gears really.

Garage
by "expensive as ballsac" you mean expensive but still cheaper than a proper STi tranny swap, yes? Because if you want something good in there, it's not like there are cheaper options.

i'm waiting for the Touge tunning gears. supposed to be be stronger than RA's and in better ratios, while being cheaper than PPG's. there's a thread on NASIOC about them. Andrewtech did the install and is currently testing them on a 350whp car.

RA gear sets are good but you shouls get the cryogenic RA gear set its much better. I happen to have a set. There used. I had them in my 02 wrx. let me know if you interested. If you buy them new there about $1900. Ill sell them for about 700
