Possible Center Diff Issues on 11' WRX

So I am having a strange issue with my car and I am curious if any of you have any thoughts / suggestions.

When turning tightly at slow speeds (either direction) my front end / center are making a strange knocking sound, almost like a wheel hop... but this only happens after driving on the highway for at least 15-20 miles. If I were to leave the car over night and then attempt to recreate the sound / feeling the next morning it would not happen.

After doing some research I started to think it was a center diff issue. Being that my car only has 34k on it and I don't abuse it, it seems unlikely. This morning I had Dent Sport check it out. They drained the fluid and everything seemed fine, no chunks of metal or other signs that the diff was shot. They checked out axles/etc and everything seemed fine.

They did however discover that the engine/tranny moved quite a bit and that the exhaust may have been hitting the driveshaft (and there were marks to show that). Anyway, they replaced my transmission mount with a Group N and thought the problem was solved. By the time I got home the noise was back...

I have an appointment with Subaru tomorrow morning—though I am a bit apprehensive due to my car being modified a bit (suspension, stage 1+, etc).

What suspension pieces have you replaced?

Edit: found your intro thread.

Is it possible your RSB bushings are not lubed enough.... I'd start with that area. And the endlinks.

Knocking from RSB bushing usually only happens from bumps from my experience.

I have a similar knocking on my Outback the way you describe but it happens at any time I take a tight turn (slow speed). I just haven't cared to figure it out since it's a 13 year old car/beater.

Edit: It's probably your CV joint/axle. I didn't mention it earlier since I just replaced mine. Looks like it still happens with reman-ed axles which is what I replaced it with.

I took it in to Subaru today. They are replacing the center diff under warranty. They even gave me a rental car!

Wow... nice.

Subaru replaced the center diff... no more knocking/binding!

Glad to hear that was it and was fixed!
