Question Performance Stages and a Stock Auto Transmission

Can anyone tell me how much HP and torque a stock automatic transmission can handle in an 2004 WRX and if so, Which stage of performance could I go to? I was thinking stage 2 might be my limit w/o upgrading valve body or torque converter. My WRX is bone stock and want to upgrade.

It's somewhat objective because its really how you drive it. I know people that have over 80k on a stgII 4eat no problems, others break their tranny earlier, usually because they brake launch, drag and otherwise are hard on it and don't maintain it.

I have a 4eat fxt and just swapped in a VF43 after being at Stg II for the last year (12k). I added a tranny cooler which I think is a real good investment. They are relatively cheap and keeping the tranny cool is key

Whenever you upgrade there is always a chance things might go south but overall you should be fine provided you maintain yourcar and your driving habits are reasonable

Stage 2 should make you pretty happy compared to stock, and will be fine with the stock TC. However, if you plan on upgrading the snail at some point, you may want to throw in an aftermarket TC. Here is some education about TC's:

Talking

Basically, It's my daily driver but I plan on taking it to track days at Road America In ElkhartLake Wi. I drive conservative on the street but when I'm on the track its fast yet smooth.
