What are your opinions of these two different gearsets? First hand experiences would be a plus....

What's your budget? That's really the answer to your question.

Well I have the proper budget. Just do not want to spend quite a bit of money on a gearset because the quality of the company's gears are bad ya know? Basically asking because some aftermarket gears are more reliable than others. My wallet and I would be devastated if i spent 5-6k after labor and the gears were not as good as "advertised."

Popular opinion probably isn't the best approach to selecting a set of gears. Like mosc said, your budget will probably end up being the deciding factor.

That said, I have first hand experience with Albins gears in my 07 WRX and in my opinion, they're better than PPG and PAR. But I know people who have PPG and PAR gears and they'll probably tell you the same thing about theirs :D

I currently have over 47k miles on them (trans fluid changes every 15k with 1 L Motul Gear 300 and 2.X Qts of Redline Lightweight Shockproof). 365 whp/340 wtq if that helps, which is nothing too crazy, but I drive the car like it was meant to be driven when conditions permit.

PPG's done properly is also very different than PPG gears shoved in a stock transmission. A fully built PPG setup costs more but is also the strongest thing you can get that fits in the 5-speed. I'd go all out with that if you have power that demands it. If not, I'd go with something more like what John is talking about.

Or, you know, trade it in on an STi and scoff at the plebeian WRX's with their feeble 5-speeds and stock clutches.
