lgt swap

im going to order my gear set this week my question is i have two transmissions an 03 an a 04 the 03 was taken out because a failure the 04 is in the car which one should i do the swap into 03 i can take my time an rebuild it completely or the 04 kinda rush so i can put it right back in the 04 has no problems though is one better to do the swap into than the other oh an where is a good place to get bearings an synchros

Shouldn't matter which case you use. I believe the case is identical just the gears inside were a little different.

As far as synchros go, get in contact with the guys at andrewtech. They are pretty much the go to people for transmissions for these cars in the country. Not saying they are the only ones who know, or do them, but they are one of the most knowledgeable group of guys out there that are readily available to the public.

ya i think ill break the 03 open an find out what needs to be fixed an start a list gotta get it ready for the 2.5 hybrid

In my opinion, depending on what you are going to do with the car, I'd suggest going with a set of 08+ gears. They make kits to allow them to be used in earlier transmissions. I believe they are around $1500 for everything you need. That's the route I am going...

i hear those are a little stronger but how much is the question i hear good about the lgt set but not to much about the 08 just kinda makes me nervous

I thought the LGT gears are the same as the 08+ WRX's?

Yeah, they are the same and Matt (basco) has said the bearings can only be had from the dealership. I'd get the kits that fit older transmissions to make sure you don't get stuck in any fubar moments that the kits fixed. Keith, do you have a link or more information on those kits?
