yeah i babied the stock tranny, i head about the infamous "glass tranny" only got on it through one gear at a time. it's gonna take some getting use to the 60 @ 2750 and 100 @ 4750 rpm's. some pretty mad ratios

I havent tested the RA, but it does feel quicker in my 0-45 runs. Haven't driven on a freeway yet, I take backroads.

I combined doing the RA gearset with some aftermarket stuff, like an STi pitch stopper, upgraded tranny mounts, Cobb short shifter, plus the RA's, plus labor came out to like 4k. It was a little spendy, but not bad when Subaru wanted 4300 for the stock gears.

from what i understand, as far as "toughness" in transmissions from 02-06. the 06 has a final drive of 3.90

up .20 from the 05 i think. the higher the final drive, the less tension on your gears i believe. but you have to remember, these cars aren't meant for launching hard on concrete. the added stress to your drivetline from AWD is intense. fwd and rwd can spin wheels easy. awd on the other hand, increases traction among many other things. put awd on any american car, i'm sure you can bust the tranny np.
